ABOUT THE PG DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

The post graduate department of chemistry was established in the year of 2006 with Organic Chemistry as specialisation with an intake of 36 seats including management seats. In the year 2009 another specialisation namely Analytical Chemistry was introduced. At present there are 66 Organic and 54 Analytical Chemistry students. The department is enriched with six teaching faculty members, two of them are Ph.D. holders (doctorates), two are pursuing Ph.D. and two of them are AP-SET qualified.

The department as a whole published more than seventy research papers in national and international peer reviewed journals. The department organised one international conference and two national seminars and two workshops in association with UG departments of chemistry and zoology. Infra structure, Library, Laboratory facilities, Latest equipment, experienced staff, Results last but not least our Managing committee is the strength of our department. Industrial training programmes on the analysis of bulk drugs and a pharmaceutical formulation which is useful in placements in pharmaceutical industries were arranged for M.Sc.Final students every year in association with Active Pharma Labs, Hyderabad and Pharma Train, an analytical testing and training Laboratory, Hyderabad . Every year campus placements are organised by campus placement cell of our college, and our students are placed in Hetero Drugs Ltd. Hyderabad, GVK Bio-Science, Hyderabad, Aurobindo Laboratories, Hyderabad. Students are encouraged to participate in national seminars, conferences, workshops where ever organised.

Our students participated and presented posters in two national seminars namely “Green Chemistry-Its Impact on Environmental Protection Environmental protection and sustainable Development: Issues and Challenges”. Our students are also participated in two workshops namely Instrumentation-chemistry practical paper-IV and Spectrophotometry and Chromatography. Y.S.Vijaya Bharathi participated in 104 th Indian Science Congress on 3rd &7th Jan 2017 organised by Dept.of NHRD-New Delhi, held at SV University-Tirupathi.
