ABOUT THE PG DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

It is very true that we all live in an amazing world of mysterious beauty. The ultimate pleasure of this world remains alien for us until we court the graces of a genius mind to act as a facilitator enabling us to enjoy the beauties of the creation. This genius mind is the second creator exercising imagination and explaining the inexplicable works of art popularly known as Literature

English Literature in particular is a linking agent. Looking at the splendid fabric of English Literature, we realize in it a ‘coat of many colors’, reflecting world’s varied cultures, traditions and modes of thought. Literature is feelings and thoughts in black and white. It has been realized that literature not only imparts values but it creates an awareness of the culture of one’s individuality

With this view in mind the Management Committee of Sir C R Reddy Educational institutions decided to establish course in M.A English Literature. The department was established in 2008 and was affiliated to Andhra University from June 2008 – June 2015 and from June 2016 – Till Date to Adikavi Nannaya University

The main objectives in establishing this course are: To equip to students with Critical, Analytical, Conceptual and Communication skills which will enable them to work in many professions – teaching, publishing, translation, editing and research. To understand the essence of Literature To inculcate the values fostered by the literary texts To develop taste for aesthetics through literature To develop Communication (LSRW) Skills in the students through the study of Linguistics. To develop self-confidence though literary stories in the students To make the students live in the society at large and overcome all sorts of problems and sufferings To orient students towards career and profession.
